While our nights are now close to freezing temps, we still haven't hit the hard 32 here at our house yet. My dad was here today and returned the vase from the bouquet of garden flowers I took them a few weeks ago.
Since it was a beautiful, sunny day here (60F) and there are still blooms in the garden, I refilled the vase and sent it back again - with flowers!
Today's arrangement included lion's tail, coneflowers, indigo spires salvia, celosia, rosemary and duranta seeds.

After tonight, I think Duranta, Brugs, Pentas and some other beauties are finally going to turn black overnight here. Somebody in the PNW left the door open again.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely idea Diana, sending your vase back and forth - and what lovely sunny looking blooms you have filled it with. It seems strange to those of us in the UK that such bounty is likely to be swept away almost instantly with the onset of colder weather. Do you not have a transitional autumn - or would you say these blooms are autumn flowering? THnaks so much for joining us - see you again soon.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have a vase going back and forth between you and your parents; a very special connection. The bright light in your image is amazing.
ReplyDeleteDiana this is a wonderful idea of filling a vase and sending it back....and what a vase filled with beautiful sunny flowers. Winter finally came to the NE this weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow amazing to have such an array of flowers still, Diana! Even in the normal year my Echinacea quit blooming in late summer. Your deep colored Echinacea is so lovely, and I would love to be able to grow Duranta. But I'm hoping for an early spring.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is wonderful--especially this time of year. A friend of mine used to go back and forth with our vases. It's a delightful tradition of sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the addition of the rosemary. I'll have to try that! I'll be filling up vases this weekend, before our (maybe) freeze.
ReplyDeleteI am not much into reading, but somehow I got to read lots of articles on your blog. Its amazing how interesting it is for me to visit you very often.
