And she has the whole show to herself as she's the only one blooming in the bed. Course that's because she thinks it's August at 94 degrees today!Dianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08681758051433522246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7327638960016684551.post-82384385753010478712009-04-22T15:41:00.000-05:002009-04-22T15:41:00.000-05:00I love, love, love that daylily! When we were in the process of moving here in 1999, I followed the conventional advice that the semi-evergreen and evergreen groups had a better chance of survival. Dormant daylilies have a hard time here so I left KL behind.

But if you're buying daylilies and see one for under $15, get one for me and I'll pay you back. It's worth an experiment.

AnnieAnnie in Austinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14662139490401110432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7327638960016684551.post-49868960677475519782009-04-21T16:29:00.000-05:002009-04-21T16:29:00.000-05:00Annie - well, of course it makes sense that our li...Annie - well, of course it makes sense that our lilies bloom earlier here -- it is Spring earlier here! I like the spiders, too. There is something exotic about their wispy blooms that appeals to me. The bed was supposed to bloom in 3 phases - HA! So much for planning, This is the only one near bloom now. I'll have to check out that Kindly Light that you and Gail both recommend -- it must be a winner!Dianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08681758051433522246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7327638960016684551.post-60305062412217985232009-04-21T15:51:00.000-05:002009-04-21T15:51:00.000-05:00I just read the fireant post, Diana, freaked out a...I just read the fireant post, Diana, freaked out and ran away in a panic to this one...ah, daylilies!

I like your new addition, but like Gail, once grew Kindly Light and think it is the most beautiful Spider hemerocallis. Wish I had it again now.
The daylilies that I did bring with me bloom much earlier than in Illinois - they bloomed end of June through mid-August up there but now appear end of April and might last through early June.

This is a very new daylily, right? Maybe it will bloom a little in 2010 after it's been in the ground a year.

Annie at the Transplantable RoseAnnie in Austinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14662139490401110432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7327638960016684551.post-9538847264917338702009-04-19T15:26:00.000-05:002009-04-19T15:26:00.000-05:00GetGrounded -- I did have heavy rain, 1.6 somethin...GetGrounded -- I did have heavy rain, 1.6 something all together. Maggie will recover - and I am so glad to have the rain, no matter what a mess it made!

Debbi -- I know I shouldn't complain, and I'm really not complaining, just observing!

Gail --I haven't seen Kindly Light - I'll have to go look for it. Olallie is in VT and that's a very good point! On top of our non-winter, I guess she's way ahead of the curve.

Blossom -- I thought it was a great color -- I tired to do vivid colors through the whole bed.

Lisa -- what a great thought - that it might bloom again! I'll hang onto that idea for sure. You are cool again there today, aren't you? I know you are ready for the sun to show up again.Dianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08681758051433522246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7327638960016684551.post-72664706149276419012009-04-19T06:43:00.000-05:002009-04-19T06:43:00.000-05:00It is raining here today Diana. It sounds like you are having our August-like weather so it is totally confused.
