A little rain to help our drought-stricken gardens...

The drought continues in Central Texas -- we closed the door on 2012 more than an inch below our average 4th quarter rainfall totals.

So this week's substantial rainfall was a welcome drench for plants and animals.  And of course, I had to go out into the garden to record the effect of the rain on my plants.

Don't step in the puddles as you tour the garden.

How much rain have you gotten lately in your garden?

How much rain? Enough I wish we could share with you! 22" from Oct -Dec, 50" total for 2012 (5th wettest on record I think). Like I said I would be happy to share!

We're way below in Mobile, Alabama for our normal, but we have gotten about an inch last week, thank goodness.

Looking very luscious. Can't wait to see what it did to mine.

danger garden - we got almost 2 inches which is huge for our house. Parts of Austin got up to 5, but we're in a donut hole that usually gets missed! Wish we could take your rain!

Crafty Cristy - Glad you got some rain, too. This drought is horrible.

Lancashire Rose - It must be so hard to have to wait when you're away. At least you have lots of little reporters in all of us!

The rain was nice...and, very welcome.
We got almost three inches here. We usually get missed, too.

Think we are getting some right now! It is probably what you had finally made its way to us. I joined CoCoRaHS, a citizen weather reporting system. Will have to get up 'early' tomorrow to report my overnight rainfall.

We are just now catching up with last years deficit of rain. It is a welcome sight as you say. I did miss all the puddles as I toured your garden.

Those raindrops look so pretty - what lovely pictures. We've had snow, and yet more snow, and I think there will be a bit more snow tonight. Then it's going to rain!
