Sometimes Austin sounds like Tucson....a tropical sauna indeed....but I would have to say the difference is that Austin has a way greener vibe:) I remember going there right around this time and the humidity was out of control.....October is almost here!!:)
Nice post! I have to admit, although I'll rarely complain about rain, here in PDX warm, humid weather is fairly scarce, this past weekend, however, we've had a spate of it...I'm not a fan :-) I can only imagine that Austin would indeed be "sauna-like"!
Rohrerbot - You're so right, we're very green here, in every sense of the word. And the cooler temps do mean October is around the corner ... or, in a few days!
Layanee - I should have been outside today, too. But inside work has to be done sometime, after all. Maybe tomorrow!
ScotWeberPDX- I really am not complaining about the rain. It's kind of a Pandora's box thing here tho, when it does rain, which is not often, then it really pours and we almost instantly have flooding. But it is what it is! And I love living and gardening here.
Jayne - so glad you got some relief, too. You're used to the sauna, at least it's a little drier here most of the time!

Happy gardening!
Welcome
Thanks for visiting my blog
I'm glad you've found my garden journal. Perhaps the only thing greater than the satisfaction of nurturing a seed to a seedling to a blooming or producing plant is the joy of sharing nature's bounty with others. Whether I'm peddling garden tomatoes we can't possibly eat or sharing stories about why the verbena isn't doing well, my garden connects me. It connects me to the earth, to our wildlife friends, to fellow gardeners, and, to myself. So, welcome. I hope you'll feel connected here.

I love the picture of the "river." =)
Actually, I love all of the pictures!
Stephanie - Thanks! It is fun to watch the water run down the rock path and it's functional - draining all that water away from my garage!
Lovely, Diana. We'll need to revisit this post next July and August, I bet.
Pam - You're so right. Next August this post will seem like a mirage!

It is cloudy with the promise of rain here and we need it also. Only 61 here today. I should be outside!

I'm familiar with the tropical sauna feel and am so loving this cool spell in Houston today. I do love your little river, great idea for drainage.
