Chirpy, chirpy, cheep-cheep!

This little wren looks so fluffy, sitting outside my breakfast room window this morning. He even let me take his picture from fairly close up.
Well, this is quite poor photography. I was trying to see if I could get a shot of the gold finches on the wire tube feeder that goes up to the top of this photo. If you squint really hard, you can see their two bellies though the feeder screen!
And here's Mr. Squirrel. He and TWO of his buddies showed up this morning after I fed everyone. I can tolerate them, but let's not get greedy, guys!

Uh ooh. First, Dee got 'Garden Party' stuck in my head. Now I've got Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep' stuck. Gotta go listen to Bruce Springsteen or Coldplay or something to flush the earworms. (which I'd feed to the wren if he was here.)

Looks like your Carolina Wren is far from Carolina! They are so cute.

Jodi -- sorry 'bout that. But I do get a chuckle out of the thought, I must admit. BTW - I have Springsteen tix - he's coming here April 5th!

Janet - they are cute, aren't they? We watch a nest of babies hatch and fly away one year -- they nested in a plant on the back patio next to the window. It was like a National Geographic TV set of our own!

Love those wrens! I saw my first one here a couple of weeks ago, but it hasn't been back since.

Thankfully I don't have squirrels.

Oh those squirrels make me sick. You are a good person for tolerating them.

EAL -- Well, I'm not such a good person, I just finally gave up! My DH has offered to shoot them (in 1/2 jest) but that won't do either, so I feed them. And I scream at them when they break my pretty, expensive gift feeders. (Which is why I don't have any pretty, expensive feeders any more!)

Robin -- How can you not have any squirrels? Especially with all your birds? I thought they went hand-in-hand. You're lucky, though I'll bet you have other annoying critters ... seems like we all have something!

Diana,

Those squirrel's but make him look like you keep them REALLY well fed.

MrBrownThumb -- we have a large wooded area, so a lot of birds and a lot of feeders. And Mr.Squirrel never misses a meal - I can guarantee you that! We also have deer and bunnies, and a drought...so I don't mind feeding even the squirrels nowadays.

Fried squirrel with mild gravy and mashed potatoes is the way to go.

Lisa - LOL! You're a hoot. My husband would so agree with that. He'd love to go out there with a shotgun and take care of them, and he's like them fried, too! I just scare them off periodically, along with my neighbor's formerly-feral cats, and try not to get all wee-weed up about them.

Diana, I have a gardening friend who lives in a neighboring suburb, and he's been known to do a little backyard squirrel hunting. He says they make excellent stew! :O

Diana, After exploring the Cornell web site doing the Great Backyard Bird Count, I believe I id'ed your little wren as a Carolina Wren and it may be a Bewick Wren. Very similar..but the Bewick seems to have more of Texas in its range. Oh well, still cute!

Garden Girl - Don't encourage my husband ... he's rarin' to go already!

Janet - I think that's right, thanks for digging. Amazing what you can find online, isn't it? We have a lot of them here, they are so adorable.
