Pam - the deer have never bothered them, though we did put some of the pumpkin seeds out yesterday for the birds or the deer. Not sure yet if they ate them.
Robin - We did, and we made 4 of them as my grown son comes back every Halloween to carve with us as a family tradition. We had a great day.
I didn't grow carving pumpkins this year. Must remember to do so next year so the kids can come pick! My little niece asked if I had grown any and looked so disappointed when I said no. When the kids are grown it is hard to remember the simple joy that pumpkin picking and carving can bring. Thanks for that reminder! p.s. You're getting a greenhouse?
Lisa - it is fun, especially when my 24-year old son comes every year to help his 5 year-old sister carve hers. It makes my heart happy to see that love.
Layanee - I've never grown a pumpkin and we forgot to plant the white pumpkin seeds Grandma sent us last year. If I can find 'em, do you think the seeds would be ok for next year? Then I have to figure where and when to plant them here in hot central Tx!

Happy gardening!
Welcome
Thanks for visiting my blog
I'm glad you've found my garden journal. Perhaps the only thing greater than the satisfaction of nurturing a seed to a seedling to a blooming or producing plant is the joy of sharing nature's bounty with others. Whether I'm peddling garden tomatoes we can't possibly eat or sharing stories about why the verbena isn't doing well, my garden connects me. It connects me to the earth, to our wildlife friends, to fellow gardeners, and, to myself. So, welcome. I hope you'll feel connected here.

Scarily cute! Say, don't the deer try to eat your jack-o-lanterns, Diana?
Diana, you are quite prolific with the jack-o-lanterns! Looks like you girls are having a great time.

A perfect pumpkin post! Thank you for sharing your pumpkin carving day with us! Your daughter is adorable!

Thanks, Gail -- she is cute - even with that scary face! And she loves Halloween...don't we all?!
I have always wanted to have a pumpkin carving party. Maybe next year. You have made it looks like so much fun.
