A few little pretties

Today, my husband and I cleaned out the garage. No gardening and no interesting photos there, although it's nice to have to done and all clean with room for more plants and pots and gardening tools!

I took these pictures yesterday. This lovely, delicate white flower is from my Anacacho Orchid Tree (Bauhinia congesta ), which I planted in the front bed when we had to remove all of the shrubs because of the Oleander disease. It replaces a Redbud that struggled most of the year. In the Spring, however, it always seemed happy and bloomed beautifully for me. I am so glad that this new tree also has lovely Spring blooms that everyone can enjoy. For a great photo for a full sized tree, you can check out Pam's tree at Digging and see how much prettier the blooms get as the tree grows. (I have a little tree-envy, can you tell?!)

I had to capture a photo of this Verbena - the color is just so striking and it just thrives in this cooler Spring weather. It will melt when the heat of Summer arrives, but for now, it's in its full glory and makes me smile every time I walk by it.

I saw Mr. Cardinal drinking from the top of my fountain and grabbed my camera, but by the time I got back, he was gone. But he invited some friends for a cocktail. Shortly thereafter, two mourning doves replaced him at the bar to wet their whistles!

Diana, Thanks for visiting Petunia's Garden. The snow is now melted and it should be warming up this week. I love cleaning out the garage. Always makes room for working on projects, etc. None of that decorating expectations that comes up inside too.

Glad the Post Option note was a help. We all just pick up those little tidbits the more we use it.

We don't have cardinals or mouring doves here in our area. Being from KS, I really miss them.
Thanks for sharing - Paula

Having enjoyed a tour of your garden last week, I know how much you have blooming right now. It all looked wonderful. Don't worry--the orchid tree will be bigger before you know it. And I love that verbena too---so vibrant.

Lovely tree, it won't be long and it will be big and beautiful.

Looking forward to the Austin visit and the warmth of your season. You have reminded me that the garage needs cleaning!

Those little pretties make me sad that I'm not going to Austin with my sister. Maybe she could stowe me away in her luggage?

I'm with the others. The verbena is wonderful.

Sherry - I so wish you could come, too. Maybe another time. I just posted about the loss of my dog today - I know you'd want to know.

Petunia's Gardener - We feel like our cardinals are neighbors.

Nancy - I just love bright and vibrant colors in my garden, don't you?

Pam - I'm glad my little tree will be a good grower - I don't think I can wait as long as a Mountain Laurel.

Lisa - I'll have to post pictures of it every Spring so we can watch it grow.
